2 2004 NATIONAL BEAGLE CLUB STIJD BOOK-BASSETS 2 RULES AND PROCEDURES This Stud Book is comprised of two sections, one for Beagles and one for Bassets. Eacb section has an Appendix.A Stud Book Hound is one that qualifies under the rules stated herein, and is registered in the section appropriate to its breed . An Appendix Hound is one that qualifies under the ruJes stated herein, and is registered in the Appendix to the section appropriate to its breed. ELIGIBILITY FOR RE.GISTRATlON IN THE STIJD BooK 1. Hounds must be the progeny of Stud Book Hounds. OR 2. Registered individuaUy with the American Kennel Club as owned by the Pack which is registering them in this Stud Book - Rules 11 and 12 (below) apply. OR 3. The progeny of a Stud Book Hound or A.K.C. Registered hound owned by a recognized Pack and anA.K.C. Registered Hound of appropriate breed which is not owned and registered in ownership by a Pack recognized by the National Beagle Club.An A.K.C. Litter Registration number or individual A.K.C. Registration number must be furnished for the sire or dam not owned by a recognized Pack. OR 4. Registered in the English Association of Masters of Harriers and Beagles Stud Book. OR 5. Registered in the Irish Masters of Beagles As.~ociation Stud Book. OR 6. Registered in the English Masters of Basset Hounds Association Stud Rook , or with the English Kennel Club. OR 7. Registered in the Livre des Origines Frarn;:aise of the appropriate breed of the Societe Centrale Canine, Frnnce. OR 8. Registered in the appropriate Basset Breed Register of the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI) in continental Europe OR 9. The progeny of a Stud Book Hound and any of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 above, of appropriate breed. OR 10. The progeny of an Appendix A Hound and any of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 7 or 8 above , of appropriate breed. AND 11. AU Hounds are hunted in a regular and systematic way and that unemered Hounds are intended to be entered at the appropriate time. AND 12. ALI Hounds must be bred or owned by a Pack of Beagles or Bassets that is recognized by the National Beagle Club of America. ELIGIBilJTY FOR REGISTRATION OF APPENDIX HOUNDS The purpose of the Appendix in a th.ree-level system is to provide for listing of hounds not e ligible for registration with the American Kennel Club due to their bloodlines not being proven traceable to A.K.C. Registered ancestors or to the foreign Stud Books listed above, and to provide for a system of documentation whereby their progeny wil_l eventually be eligible for listing in the Stud Book. Rules 11 and 12, for Stud Book Hounds, shall apply. The Master of the Pack wishing to list such hounds shall submit all the information he has about the hounds' breed– ing for up to three generations, if possible, to the Directors of the National Beagle Club.They wiU arrange an inspection of the hounds by five Masters of active status of the appropriate breed, who will inspect and determine whether they are, in fact, representative of specimens of the breed in whose Appendix - Beagles or Bassets - they are to be listed.The examination group shaU supply an affidavit signed by all parties if they approve the ac_1:ion . 1 .These hounds shall be accepted intoAppendix C of the Stud Rook , and their ages shall be stated when they are first Listed. Their names will be prefixed by the name of the Pack registering them, and followed by the listing year and the letter C when they appear as sires or dams in future years. Further, if aged, i.e., not young entry hounds, the date appen– dix letter will be followed by a + symbol. 2. The progeny of an Appendix C Hound and a Stud Book Hom1d or A.KC . Registered Hound of appropriate breed, owned by a Pack of Bassets or Beagles recognized by the National Beagle Club, shaU be listed in Appendix B of the Stud Book.Their names will be followed by listing year and the letter Rwhen they appear as sires or dams in future years. 3. The progeny of an Appendix 13 Hound and a Stud Book Hound or A.K.C. Registered Hound of appropriate breed, owned by a recognized Pack, shall be listed in Appendix A of the Stud Book.Their names will be followed by listing year and the letter A when they appear as sires or dams in future years. 4-.The progeny of an Appendix A Hound and a Stud nook I lound or A.K.C. Registered Hound of appropriate breed, owned by a recognized P-ack, shall be admitted to the Stud Doak and Iisted with the entry of the Pack which bred them . 5. HOWEVER, the progeny ofAppendix Hounds of the same level, i.e. ,A to A, B to B, or C to C, shall remain at the same
